Privacy notice

One template, used for the privacy notice, the terms, and anything else that is mostly reading. Single column, generous measure, no decoration.

This explains what happens to information you give this website. It is written to be read rather than to cover anybody's back, so if something here is unclear, ask and it will be fixed.

Who is responsible

Solar Search Marketing is a trading name of Andrew Clark. Andrew Clark is the data controller for information collected through this website.

You can reach him on 07424 676122.

What is collected, and why

Only what you type into the enquiry form: your company name, the area you cover, roughly how many installs you do, what you currently spend on leads, your name, your phone number or email address, and anything you write in the notes box.

It is used for one thing — replying to you. It is not added to a mailing list, not sold, and not passed to anyone else for marketing.

The calculator on this website

The calculator on this site is a demonstration. It loads a map from Google so you can trace a roof, which means Google receives your IP address and the location you searched for, under their own terms. Nothing you type into the demonstration is sent anywhere or stored.

Where the same calculator is fitted to a solar installer's own website, enquiries from it go to that installer. In that case the installer decides what happens to the information and is responsible for it; Solar Search Marketing only passes it on.

Lawful basis

Legitimate interests — you have contacted a business asking about its services, and replying to you is the obvious reason you did that. You can object at any time and the information will be deleted.

Who else sees it

  • The form provider. The enquiry form is delivered by a third-party form service, which passes the message to an email inbox. They process it on instruction and do not use it for anything else.
  • Google. Loading the map in the calculator involves Google, as described above.
  • The website host. Cloudflare serves this site and handles the request.

There is no analytics, no advertising pixel and no tracking cookie on this website.

How long it is kept

Enquiries are kept for as long as there is a live conversation, and deleted within twelve months if nothing comes of it. If you become a client, correspondence is kept for as long as the work continues and for six years afterwards, which is what tax records require.

What you can ask for

A copy of what is held about you, a correction, deletion, or for it to stop being used. Ask and it will be done, normally the same working day and in any case within a month. There is no charge.

Complaints

If you are not satisfied with how a request was handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
